History of School

Founded in 1993 by Bonnie Manning, Children’s House of Hershey began in a private home in Hummelstown with just three children. In 1998 the Manning Family purchased the 100 year-old Roundtop Schoolhouse. Sitting on an acre of land, the schoolhouse is situated on a hill, overlooking a beautiful country setting, surrounded by farmland. Through the help of many, an addition was added to the original building, doubling it’s size and incorporating Bonnie’s specifications to transform the building into a true Montessori Children’s House. Current enrollment is 24 children in two half day classes and 3 staff members. Children’s House of Hershey is licensed by The Pennsylvania Office of Child Development and Early Learning. It is a member of the American Montessori Society (AMS) and the International Montessori Council (IMC).
